Ophthalmic emergencies are quite frequent, as many eye diseases are acute in nature.
Every attempt will be made to see emergencies occurring during business hours the same day if Dr. Brown is in the hospital. However, PLEASE do not wait to see Dr. Brown if you are worried and your pet is in pain (eye closed, squinting, rubbing), loses vision suddenly, or has a major change in demeanor. In these cases, you should go to the nearest 24-hour veterinary emergency hospital to be seen by a veterinarian. Vision can be lost in less than one day in some conditions and waiting could jeopardize your pet’s eye health. All of the hospitals Dr. Brown serves have 24-hour care and emergency services.
Weekend & After-Hours Emergencies
For weekend and after-hours emergencies, we recommend evaluation by the staff at Animal Referral and Emergency Associates, Oradell Animal Hospital, Animerge, and Crown Veterinary Specialists. For these emergencies Drs. Brown will consult with the emergency staff and see the patient the following clinic day, if necessary.
