Advances in both human and veterinary medicine have increased the ability to both diagnose and treat many of these diseases. With increasing medical knowledge, there has been the development of training programs in specific veterinary fields including ophthalmology, surgery, dermatology, cardiology, and many others.
New Staff Ophthalmologist!!
Dr. Michael Brown is proud to announce that Dr. Elaine Holt will be joining our Ophthalmology Service early in 2015! Dr. Holt performed a small animal internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. After practicing a year at a private practice in San Francisco, Dr. Holt completed a residency in comparative ophthalmology at UC Davis.
Dr. Holt then worked in the Ophthalmology Department at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Holt moved to the UK to be with family in 2005 and worked as a lecturer at the Royal Veterinary College before establishing the ophthalmology service at North Downs Specialist Referrals. Dr. Holt is a Diplomate of both the American and European Colleges of Ophthalmologists and is a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recognized specialist in ophthalmology. Dr. Holt continues to be involved in the training of veterinary and postgraduate students and is an invited speaker at national and international meetings.
Dr. Holt will work closely with your clients and will provide to you timely updates on the status, diagnostic results and therapeutic options for your referred patients. She will continue the high level of expertise and care that you expect from the Ophthalmology Service at the Animal Eye Center of New Jersey. With the addition of a third staff ophthalmologist, we are excited to offer expanded hours of operation and increased access for your emergency cases.
Dr. Holt will be available for consultations Monday, Tuesdays and Saturdays at Animerge (Raritan, NJ 908-707-9077), Wednesday at the Animal Eye Center of New Jersey (Little Falls, NJ 973-890-4430) and Thursdays at Crown Veterinary Specialists (Lebanon, NJ 908-336-1332).
Dr. Holt is excited to rekindle old friendships in the area after nine years away in England. In her free time, Dr. Holt and her bicycle are rarely separated and she enjoys traveling with her blind cocker spaniel and diabetic terrier.
